Work Experience

May 2010 - present

Designer at THIS IS RED Agency - I design websites, take photos, make logos and print pieces, as well as anything else that pops up for a hard-working problem solver at a small agency. I bring my passion for great communication to companies from Transitions Lenses to MCG Jazz on the most fascinating platform – the Internet.

August 2009 - May 2010

Designer at sunKING Digital Agency - Before THIS IS RED Agency, there was sunKING, my first real job where I delved into the digital world. My passion for the internet, all the amazing things that we can do with the coolest technology was ignited. I was also introduced to the world of animation by supporting our awesome animators with storyboarding, concepts, and design direction.

Summer of 2008

Intern Designer at Ceci New York - My first job experience where I wasn't treated like a coffee-runner, but was treated like an entry level designer. I was a part of a team that designed couture wedding invitations that could make any letterpress lover drool. I still have a place in my heart for print design, and can bust out those skills at any moment.

Education

2009 - Bachelor of Design from Penn State University

I graduated from Penn State's Graphic Design program while making Dean's list every semester and competing with the Crew team. Not only did I learn about beautiful typography, layout and craft, but I learned how to think, research and concept. I developed my love for creating concepts based on research and logic as well. A few experiences college gave me:

  • Living in Todi, Italy with a non-English speaking family for a summer
  • Competing in one of the toughest sports I have encountered
  • Getting 'lost' in The Stacks

Present - Learning never ends.

I continually find ways to learn more, not just about design and technology, but about our world and culture. A lot of times I'm just learning how to learn. Not only is knowledge power, but it is the foundation for such pursuits as information design. Some of things that I do to enrich my knowledge and experience:

  • Responsive HTML5 workshop by Daniel Mall
  • TEDxCMU confrence
  • Bolstering markup skills through a Treehouse membership
